Resumen:
p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; direction: ltr; line-height: 120%; text-align: left; }7-12% Cr martensitic-ferritic steels have been developed and studied overthe four last decades as structural materials for many applications:thermal power plants, oil industry (pipelines), heat exchangers, etc. These steels have high strength and satisfying ductility at servicetemperatures (400-500 ºC). On the other hand, they are also knownfor having high stability under high-dose-neutron irradiation; thus, they have become the reference candidates for structural applicationsin different types of nuclear reactors foreseen in the near or farfuture (fast breeder reactors, hybrid reactors, fusion reactors,etc.). The particular application will determine the specificchemical composition to be selected.Themanufacture, transformation and weldability of these materials arestandard operations whose relationship with the final requiredproperties under highly exigent conditions continues to be explored. It is thus important to have fundamental, extensive knowledge of thephysical metallurgy of these materials; in particular, to understandthe phase transformations and microstructural evolution that developduring thermal cycles related to manufacturing or service operations.AUTORES:P.
