Micro-grids (MG) are expected to be low inertiagrids especially due to the deployment of power electronics usedto connect distributed generation (DG) units. This issue bringsconsequences on the grid dynamics, reducing the frequencystability margins. To this end, the emulation of synchronousmachines has been proposed as a possible alternative. This paperexplores the benefits of this concept comparing the dynamicperformance with respect to the conventional droop control.
