Resumen:
It is a well known fact that development of social skills in childhood is closely related to later social, academic and psychological performance. The purpose of this study was to evaluate some of the most important emotional and cognitive correlates of social skills, such as positive affect, loneliness, depression, coping styles and locus of control in Argentinean children from 8 to 12 years old (N = 150). Methods of data collection consisted in different behaviour rating scales (parent and teacher report) and self reports. Results of multivariate analysis of variance between social skills and the other variables are consistent with previous findings and theory.
