Resumen:
Cu/SiO2, Cu/Al2O3, and Cu/MCM-48 catalysts are prepared and characterized by TPR, BET, XRD and TEM. The hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde in liquid phase, employing H2 as the reductant, is carried out over these samples in a Parr reactor. The selectivity to cinnayl alcohol and the activity of the samples previously reduced are lower than ones corresponding to Pt/SiO2 or Pt/CeO2 samples, but for Cu/MCM-48. This sample showeda remarkable high selectivity which would be due to the presence of Cu(I) in the mesoporous networt. Besides, previously oxidized copper catalysts allow the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde by hydrogen transfer from the solvent isopropanol). This mechanism increases the selectivity of oxidized Cu/SiO2, Cu/Al2O3 by comparison with the corresponding reduced samples.
