Resumen:
The objective of this study is to estimate the site-specific crop response functions and economically optimal rates by management zones using spatial statistics analysis of combine yield monitor data. The specific case study is for site-specific nitrogen application to corn production in the semiarid region of Argentina. An on-farm trial was conducted in 2004/05 in Manfredi, Córdoba, Argentina. Management zones where determined based upon previous yield maps and digital elevation maps. The experimental design for the trial was a complete block strip trial that included three different Management zones. The field was planted in October 2004 and harvested in May 2005 with a combine equipped with a yield monitor. Data was processed with a GIS and analyzed with a spatial statistics package. Results suggest that spatial autoregressive models are most efficient, and that the diversity of grain production, between 4915 and 15477 kg ha-1, has been related to the initial supply of N (soil N and N from the fertilizer) by management zone. The response to available N was also different by management zone. The agronomical and economically optimal N rates differ by management zone
