Resumen:
Regional numerical models provide a tool to understand and downscale atmospheric motions in order to resolve the highly variable surface, particularly over central South America, where an extensive meteorological data gap exists. Regional field experiments provide necessary data to calibrate these models for a particular season. During the 2nd year of this grant experiments with the Weather Regional Forecast System (WRF) were carried out, to test different designs, that combine distinct parameterizations of boundary layer processes, cumulus convection, initial  soil moisture conditions, radiation and land-surface interactions. Surface data from the SALLJEX (South American Low Level Jet Experiment) is used to evaluate combination of parameterization schemes that result in the best simulation of 2m T  and its diurnal cycle, as well as precipitation.
