Resumen:
? It has been suggested that venous congestion would be an independent and fundamental stimulus for the onset of decompensated cardiac heart failure. Early detection of congestion could be assessed by bioimpedance analysis (BIA). In this context, we propose to develop device capably to implement the double frequency BIA technique. The device comprises of a current generator that provides a current composed of two stabilized sinusoidal signals (2 mA at 1 kHz and 100 kHz) that flows through the body patient to produce an amplitude modulated voltage which is appropriately amplified and filtered. Then, the signal is demodulated and the phase shift between the injected and sensed signals are measured. Finally, the voltages proportional to the modulus and phase shift are converted to digital form. A custom-made software calculate the based-BIA indexes of water body composition. The whole device has proven to be highly linear and useful for the total body water determination.
