Behaviour of the Total Electron Content (TEC)over El Arenosillo area: Observations and Forescasting.

Vertical total electron content obtained with GPS satellites signals (GPSTEC) and total electron content derived from ionograms (ITEC) are compared with the latest version of the International Reference Ionosphere, IRI-2000 (IRI TEC). The database includes ionograms recorded at El Arenosillo, Spain (37.1N; 353.3E) during different seasonal and solar activity conditions. The shapes of the three estimations are similar. The GPSTEC values are greater than those obtained from the ionograms. Although some exceptions have been found, the IRI predictions generally are greater than the ITEC values and lower done the GPSTEC.
