Resumen:
Antibiotic therapy is an essential component of mastitis control program against bovine mastitis (BM). Indiscriminate use of B-lactams has contribuited to the increase of resistant strains either by the presence of B-lactamase enzyme or by penicillin-binding protein which has very low affinity for all B-lactams antibiotics, coded by blaZ and mecA genes, respectively. S. chromogenes and S. haemolyticus are the most prevalent species isolated from BM to 50 dairy farms from the central basin of Argentina. The aim of this study was analyze the genetic profiles of B-lactams resistance of SCN species with clinicl significance in BM. The results show the wide spread of resitance mediated by B-lactamase and a different horizontal transfer, but not least, of the mecA gene between SCN prevalent species. . chromogenes and S. haemolyticus could act as a rwservoir of these resitance genes, and therefore it is advisable the rational use of B-lactam antibiotics against prevalent pathogens associated with BM.
