We have recently proposed a new robust identificationframework, based upon generalized interpolationtheory, that allows for combining parametricand non-parametric models and frequencyand time-domain experimental data. In this paperwe illustrate the advantages of this framework overconventional control oriented identification techniquesby considering the problem of identifying atwo-degrce of freedom structure used as a testbedfor demonstrating damage-mitigation and life extensioncontrol concepts. This structure is poorlydamped, leading to time and frequency domain responsesthat exhibit large peaks, thus rendering theidentification problem non-trivial.
