In this paper we present the object-oriented analysis, design and implementation of a software package for the steady-state simulation of industrial plant comprising a wide variety of processing units. The most remarkable features of this work are the huge dimension of the system and the required integration with highly reliable complex simulation routines that had been developed independently. The resulting software package is broadly applicable and it is flexible for the easy incorporation of new items of equipment or analysis tools.
