Resumen:
The application of quantitative reconstructions methods still remains as a challenge in South America. Accurate interpretation of past climatic variability will help to constrain climate simulations for the Southern Hemisphere from atmospheric circulation models. The aim of the proposed work is to reconstruct Holocene climatic variables from extra-andean region, between 32 and 52ºS of Argentina, using different methodologies based on pollen-climate calibration set. Modern Analog Technique was applied to fossil record from Pampa grasslands while Transfer functions (WA-PLS) was applied to fossil record from southern Patagonia, in order to reconstruct changes in annual precipitation during the Holocene. The strengths and weakness of each model is presented and discussed. The perspectives are (1) to enlarge the modern pollen-climate data set from Pampa Grasslands and Southern Patagonia , (2) evaluate the application of quantitative reconstruction methodologies to estimate temperature and (3) to integrate and to compare these results with those from climate model simulations proposed for the Holocene and LGM for South America.
