Gasification of devolatilized olive stones using C02 is studied in order to prepare highquality activated carbons. Influences of the precursor particle size and the activationtemperature are particularly examined. Activated carbons quality is judged from the surfaceareas developed, determined by adsorption measurements. Conversion-time results aresatisfactorily represented by an approximate analytical solution of the equations describingthe simultaneous diffusion and chemical reaction of a gas within a reactive solid
