Resumen:
La Plata Ionospheric Model (LPIM) was developed at mid 90s by the staff of Satellite Geodesy Laboratory of the National University of La Plata. It is based on GPS double-frequency measurements and is used for representing vertical Total Electron Content (vTEC) distribution either on regional or global scales. Within the past 10 years since it beginnings, the model has undergone several cross-checking and validating experiments showing its robustness and confidence. This contribution presents a review of the main features of this model and its potentiality.
