Resumen:
We report two cases with LVAA, a 36 years-old-female chagasic patient and a 40-years-old malc patient, with ischemic heart disease. In both patients a Thallium-201 scintigraphy showed perfusion defects with no radioisothopic uptake in the apical segments of LV wall. Blocks of the thinned fíbrotic area (A) and transition myocarditis (B) of a chagasic LVAA, an apical segment of a chagasic patient without cardiomyopathy (C) and an ischemic LVAA (D) were processed for histology, and the endothelial cells were determined by CD34 monoclonal Ab. The percent area of CD34 and fibrosis were determined by images analyzer in 30 high-power fields (10 subepicardial, 10 myocardial and 10 subendocardial) at a magnification of 400 X. Results: are summarized in the table. Conclusions: in the transition area of severe myocarditis there is a depletion of capillaries as compared with the thinned fíbrotic area, and similar to that observed in ischemic LVAA.
