Resumen:
Temperature monitoring of EAF shell is usually a standard methodology to follow up lining wear and helps to determine reparation needs of lining refractories. This is particularly true in the case of bottom lining refractories, where direct observation is usually avoided due to the presence of the hot heel. Although main usage of thermocouples (TC) data is to follow-up shell temperature evolution during EAF campaign in order to detect excessive lining wear, other risky situations can also be detected. After analysis of both historical temperature data and also particular temperature variations during failure events, a set of alarms have been developed for Siderca EAFs. Thermal models adjusted by lining remaining thickness data has also been used for improving temperature signals interpretation. Alarms have been grouped in the following categories: 1) To detect hydration risk/ water leakage; 2) To detect TCs failure or malfunction, and 3) To detect excessive wear of bottom refractory. In this work, results of proposed and defined alarms and their performance under different events are described
