Resumen:
In recent years there has been a lot of interest in the application of complex network theory to human health relatedresearch programs. Taking advantage of the increasing availability of molecular interaction data, the network-metaphor has appeared as an appealing framework to unveil patterns of biological relevance. In order to elucidate themolecular basis of human diseases a lot of attention has been paid to the analysis of potential biases in topologicalfeatures - such us degree, clustering or betweenness - for diseases associated genes in the context of proteininteraction networks. Following this line of research, we present a novel analysis based on the study of non-trivialassociations between disease genes and the modular structure of the considered protein interaction network.
