Resumen:
Nowadays, distribution systems are in a transition process that is changing the traditional philosophy of static operation and centralized supply to dynamic operation and distributed supply. This situation makes imperative the development of new Distribution Management System (DMS) for the optimal operation of Smart Distribution Networks (SDN). A state estimator is needed to feed precise and timely information to the DMS. New state estimation algorithms must consider the SDN new characteristics. In this article we present a literature review concerning the advances of state estimation methodologies of traditional distribution networks and SDN. Furthermore, we present the potential benefits of predicting the distribution system operative state for the next hours, based in different energy demand and generation scenarios for the following hours.
