Resumen:
Bio-nanocomposites represent a novel group of nanostructured hybrid materials arising from the assembly of polymers of natural origin and solids that present, at least, one dimension on the nanometric scale. Bio-nanocomposite materials exhibit structural and functional properties of great interest for different applications (1). The inherent properties of biopolymers, biocompatibility and biodegradability, open up new perspectives in biomedical applications, including drug release. In particular, bio-nanocomposites in the form of films result of interest for the design of new transdermal systems, including the possibility of electromodulation assistance (2, 3). In the present work, formation of bio-nanocomposite films based on carbon nanotubes and agarose is studied. Their mechanical and electrical characteristics are explored towards application as platforms in transdermal drug release systems.
