Resumen:
Levoglucosenone is the major product obtained from the pyrolysis of cellulose-containing materials.1 During the last decade this bicyclic enone has been intensively used as chiral synthon in the synthesis of a wide variety of natural and unnatural products. Our interest in this field is focused on the potential use of 1 in the synthesis of chiral amino alcohols and the study of their application as catalysts in asymmetric organic transformations.
