Resumen:
Nanofiltration (NF) is a promising technique that uses membrane technology; it is located between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. It can be used to remove multivalent ions and also relatively small organic molecules of liquid flows [1, 2]. It offers several advantages such as low operating pressure, high flux and relatively low investment, operation and maintenance costs. Due to these advantages, NF applications throughout the world have increased [3]. The recovery of sugars from different effluents is significant in food industry. Glucose is a monosaccharide widely used as an important ingredient in pharmaceutical and food industries [4] while maltose is a disaccharide with different uses, for example it is employed in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of antibiotics and vaccines [5]. The aim of this work was to evaluate the performance, as permeate flow and rejection, of a commercial nanofiltration membrane with glucose-maltose mixtures, studying the different phenomena that appear.
