Resumen:
The usual definition of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) involves therelease of energy that cannot be explained by stellarprocess. However, quantifying the shape and amount of thisnon-stellar continuum is not an easy task, the main difficultyarising from the fact that the observed flux contains anappreciably contribution of the stellar emission corresponding tothe nuclear regions of the host galaxy. We attempt to determinethe non-stellar continuum in AGN by means of the spectralsynthesis method. By minimization techniques we determine thenon-stellar continua (both shape and quantity) of about 160near AGN extracted from the SDSS DR8. Our results includedetermination of black hole masses, accretion rates, ionizationstate and kinematics for the whole sample. We expect that ourwork may contribute to the understanding of the innermost regionsof AGN, and establish a possible link between the properties ofthese regions and those of the host galaxies.
