Resumen:
The analysis and numerical prediction of material failure determines the necessity to distinguish between brittle and ductile modes, since the behaviors are very different in both cases. The first one corresponds to the scope of Fracture Mechanics and the second one, to Continuum Mechanics. Considering that collapse of structures begins whit the micro cracks arising at local level, the prediction of the global failure requires an analysis at constitutive level, carried out from the spectral properties analysis of the acoustic localization tensor. In addition, the localization problem in cohesive-frictional materials is related to the softening behavior. In this work, the localized failure analysis in non-saturated soils is carried out, using the Cam Clay Modified material model and their later adaptation by Balmaceda, 1991. On the other hand, the acoustic localization tensor in drained and undrained conditions is deduced from the propagation theory of waves. Regarding drained boundary conditions in non-saturated soils, the numerical results allow to define the I1-J2 domain zone where the localized failure prevails. On the contrary, considering undrained boundary conditions only diffuse failure mode is observed.
