CLEAN TECHNOLOGY IN THE WINE PRODUCTION INDUSTRY

In this work, partials results of an investigation project to improve the energetic and environmental efficiency in the wine industry are presented. This industry is the most important of San Juan city, Argentina. A clean technology analysis of this production activity was made and it was found that: a) large quantities of water for cleaning tasks and for cooling systems are used, b) energetic integration, redesign of heat tranfer equipments and automatization are mandatory to decrease the total energy cost, c)lower lighting levels and installation of controllers to get a higher motors efficiency, to diminish the electricity consumption, d) preventive maintenance and its planification are necesary, e) the acquisition of the necessary elements to fulfill safety and hygiene norms, f) reuse of solid wastes. The solution of these topics would improve the company image and the marketing possibilities. Above all, they would lead to cleaner production systems and therefore enhance the product quality.
