LOCAL PLASMA APPROXIMATION AND K-SHELL IONIZATION IN ION-SOLID COLLISIONS

Resumen:
    We have measured the K-shell ionization cross sections of various targets from Cl (in the form of KCl) to Cu, in the form of solid foils, using highly charged ions of C, O and F. The velocity range of the projectiles was between 8 to 17 a.u. which correspond to intermediate energy range for the present targets.  The perturbed stationary state (PSS) model (ECPSSR added with small K-K electron transfer contribution using OBKNPSS) which is not an  ab initio calculation is found to be in better agreement  with the data.  The ab initio LPA model, which is developed for high velocity collisions, reproduces the data at intermediate velocities reasonably well  for the asymmetric collision system.
