Estimation of the Band Broadening Parameters in Single-Detection Size Exclusion Chromatography

Alternative approaches for the determination of band broadening (BB) in size exclusión chromatography (SEC) are presented. Narrow Posisson distributions are used as models for the BB, which can be substituted by expponentially-modified Gaussians (EMG) distributions. Three different strategies for the determination of the BB parameters are possible. These approaches do not necessitate numerical inversion procedures, as the BB parameters are directly determined from the differential refractive index chromatogram, through several derived correlations.
