Resumen:
Signalling pathways regulate the dynamics of cell behaviour by tuning enzyme activities allosterically and by directing the assembly of multicomponent complexes. Within cell signalling, serine and threonine kinases constitute ~92% of all protein kinases in humans. This enzymes work by mechanisms such as phosphorylation-induced conformational changes in the substrate. These changes are produced by domains or proteins, like 14-3-3 proteins, that play critical roles in the global control of cell proliferation, in the response of cells to DNA damage, in the regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression, and in orchestrating the mechanics of mitosis itself.
