Resumen:
NF-kappa B activation has recently been shown to be necessary for long-term memory consolidation and reconsolidation, in the inhibitory avoidance learning in the mouse hippocampus. NF-kappa B is activated in the cell nucleus in specifictemporal windows in both consolidation and reconsolidation. Previous results showed that the transcription factor is also present in synaptic terminals. This work focuses in the dynamics of its synaptic activation during consolidation, in two different synaptic localizations: soluble in the synaptic content and, in a pool describedfor the first time in this work, bound to the cell membrane. The function of this novel localization is discussed.
