Resumen:
In this paper we examine the role played by household structure and gender on the decision to send children to school in Argentina. The study is based on the Permanent Household Survey (Encuesta Permanente de Hogares, EPH) collected biannually by the National Statistical and Census Institute (INDEC). The EPH contains abundant information at the individual and household level. We explore the education patterns of boys and girls based on the gender of the individuals who make (or influence) the school attendance decision, and the economic and social household structure in which this decision is evaluated.
