In this paper I ask for the conditions of possibility of a social phenomenology understood as something else than a mere empirical science. I discuss Schutz’s program of a constituent phenomenology of the natural attitude, as well as his attempt to relate it to husserlian phenomenology despite his reject of transcendental philosophy. Then I ask if it is possible to place the pure sociology on Husserl’s map of the sciences. I find that it’s not possible, and that this impossibility is an open invitation to explore the hitherto neglected potential of phenomenological sociology, digging more deeply in the aprioristic realm of social life.
