Resumen:
Algae are ubiquitous phototrophic organisms with versatile metabolic pathways, which have been well explored to obtain multiple products through biorefineries (Chitralekha Nag Dasgupta, 2015);however, the presence of cellulases and cellulolytic activities in these organisms have been poorly described. In previous results in our laboratory, we have proved the existence of cellulolytic activityin S. quadricauda cultures and we have carried out the first bioinformatic analysis on the identification of cellulases from the Scenedesmaceae family comprising GH5 and GH9 β-1,4-endoglucanases,GH1 β-glucosidases and GH10 exoglucanases. Our results showed that most of the identified enzymes exhibited signal peptides for membrane anchoring or extracellular secretion. This resultsuggests the presence of extracellular cellulolytic machinery in the Scenedesmaceae family (Velazquez MB, 2023).
