Unpacking the Relationship Between the Politically Moderates and Extremists

We investigate the relationship between political extremists and moderates. We first show that people are less likely to perceive extremists as deviants. We then show that people are more attracted to extremists with coherent views and are more interested in forming social ties with them. Finally, in turn, political extremists perceive themselves as morally superior compared to moderates.
