Resumen:
South America is among the regions with the highest vulnerability to climate change. In particular, the Amazon and Orinoco basins are identified as climate change hotspots. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has published its most recent assessment on the physical basis of climate change (WGI AR6). The recent IPCC assessment provides a significant advance in physical aspects of climate change at regional level. For South America, the assessment is provided for seven sub-regions: Northwestern, Northern, Northeastern, Southwestern, Southern, and Southeastern South America, and the South American monsoon. Particularly, the WGI AR6 assesses climate information relevant for regional impact and risk assessment. In addition, this report introduces the Interactive Atlas, a very useful tool for decision makers at regional level. This talk provides an overview of the main advances on climate change detection, attribution and projection in South America assessed in the WGI AR6.
