Resumen:
The northern region of Argentina is home to more than 60 native maize landraces, with two main genetic groups of high phenotypic variability: the high-altitude Andeanlandraces, present in northwestern Argentina (NWA), and the floury landraces of the northeast (NEA) (Bracco et al. 2016). The accentuated geographical structuring of thesegroups, as well as their association with two markedly contrasting agroecosystems, the Andean region and the Mesopotamian plains, has led to propose the existence of localadaptation. The general objective of the present project is to elucidate the relative contribution of demographic and selective phenomena in the divergence process of maizelandraces from northern Argentina.
