Resumen:
IntroductionAdenocephalus pacificus is the agent of a common fish-borne cestodosis, by consumption of raw fish. Itsadults are known worldwide, but its larvae have been reported from fish only in Peru, where most human caseshave been reported. In the Argentine sea, sea lions host this species, which allow infer that previous records of“pseudophyllidean” larvae in Argentine hakes, Merluccius hubbsi, belong to this species.Aim: To identify plerocercoids parasitizing hakes and to assess the risk for consumers.Methods471 hakes caught in 11 samples in the southern Patagonian waters were measured, headed and gutted (H&G)and examined for plerocercoids. H&G fish were washed and parasites were retained in a sieve. Then, each fishwas filleted and examined by transillumination. Larvae were characterized by sequencing the genes LSU andCOI.ResultsLarvae were recovered from H&G fish in 5 samples at prevalence
