Resumen:
The aim of this paper is to ascertain the concept of free will held by four economists, Ludwig H. E. von Mises, Friedrich A. von Hayek, Herbert A. Simon, and George L. S. Shackle. This notion implicitly reveals their ontological conceptions, determinist or indeterminist, closed or open, and the characteristics of their notion of human agency. Subsequently, these ontological conceptions determine the character of the economic realm, and consequently, the adequate epistemology condition and method of economic science.
