Resumen:
A numerical simulation of impact tests of the soil-structure system of the reactor building of Atucha II NPP is presented here (Part II) following a common strategy with Part I of the companion paper. The purpose of the numerical simulations performed is twofold: i) To provide additional insight into the influence of various approximations involved in the numerical analysis of the dynamic response of the soil-structure system subjected to travelling waves, and ii) To assess earlier interpretations of the same tests and to arrive at conclusive values of the dynamic parameters (stiffness, frequency and damping) of the soilstructure system. Soil parameters at the site were derived by applying the SASW technique to the records obtained at different locations on the soil surface during the same impact tests. These properties, in turn, were used in the F.E. model of program SASSI to represent the soil layers and infinite boundaries. Work reported on Parts I and II used the same simplified stick model to represent the concrete and steel structures of the reactor building. The system parameters obtained both from numerical models and from experiments (steady state and impact tests) are presented as part of the final conclusions of this evaluation programme.
