Resumen:
In the field of vehicular aerodynamics, transient phenomena arise driven by the forces in-teracting with the vehicle’s structure and its damping system. In this context, our study aims to evaluatethe accuracy of a quasi-dynamic technique that imposes a condition of variable speed in time and spa-ce on the car’s walls, thereby representing the relative motion of the vehicle under real displacementconditions. Following the premise that the vehicle’s forward speed significantly exceeds the vertical orlateral speed of the body’s relative motion, it is possible to capture dynamic effects with an acceptabledegree of approximation. This technique is examined using the Ahmed body and the results are comparedwith numerical simulations that faithfully represent the body’s motion using a dynamic mesh technique.Our findings indicate that the adopted strategy allows for qualitatively capturing the temporal variationof aerodynamic forces, positioning this approach as a direct option to be considered in more complexaerodynamic models.
