Resumen:
Lianas are a common and very diverse component of tropical forests. They interact with other plant and animal species, compete with host trees for light, water, and soil nutrients, can decrease recruitment, and suppress forest carbon accumulation by reducing growth and increasing tree mortality. In this study, we evaluated the importance of some determinants of tree growth and liana load in Misiones forests, considering tree species characteristics and the degree of forest conservation. We found that tree growth was negatively related to its size, wood density, and liana load regardless of the degree of forest conservation.
