In this presentation, I defend symmetry deflationism as a philosophical approach to physical symmetries. According to this approach, symmetries are epistemically fundamental but not part of the ontology. They play a normative-heuristic role in modeling and theory construction, enhancing explanatory power and simplicity. This view sharply contrasts with realist view of symmetries that are more popular nowadays.
