Resumen:
Plants respond to environmental changes experienced during their life cycle, as well as to those experienced by previous generations. This transgenerational integration of environmental information may ifnluence adaptive processes as it could change developmental responses of future generations. Understanding the mechanisms by which plants pass information to the progeny is key to grasp the adaptive value of that information. Our results show that fluctuating environments, associated to seasonal changes, affect certain developmental transitions from one generation to the other in a persistent way. These effects might be mediated by genetic and epigenetic mechanisms, showing that the regulation of transgenerational plasticity has a complex regulation basis.
