Resumen:
The aim is compare evidence of metabolic stress in two populations with different resource consumption. Population A of site B6-Barrancas, from the eastern plain, has an abundant intake of C3 wild plants and animals. Group B, of the Osario Potrero Las Colonias site from the mountain region, has a predominant C4 intake, associated with intensive maize agriculture. High percentages of HP were recorded for population B (88%) compared to population A (32%) and low percentages of CO in the sample; however, group B has twice as many as A (12% and 6%, respectively). Similar percentages of HED were also observed (A: 55.5% and B: 64%). The isotopic data show a different picture in terms of resources consumed, which, together with the results presented above, allows us to infer that the diet of group B would have been more deficient than that of group A. This led to a greater exposure to events of the same type. This generated a greater exposure to stress events and caused metabolic alterations that contributed to the formation of the lesions reported. This discussion is part of global debates on diet and health in the transition to productive economies.
