Resumen:
Tumor cells’drug uptake is crucial for therapeutic efficacy, and chemoresistance represents a limiting factor for therapeutic success. Hypoxia, an oxygen-deprivation condition linked to tumor growth, modulates chemoresistance. Drug resistance-associated features will be analyzed in microfluidic chips, with the advantage of a small sample and drug volume requirements. These microchips allow us to study osteosarcoma cell culture in PDMS and associated tumor microenvironment conditions known as hypoxia with an overall small amount of material consumption. These studies are performed using sealed PDMS chips and may serve as proof of concept for a lab-on-a-chip approach to assess tumor growth factors that mimic tumor environments.
