Resumen:
As a minimally invasive surgery, Percutaneous Discoplasty (PD) has shown good results to consider it as a great alternative in adult patients over 65 years of age. Without going into details, these patients suffer osteoarthritic changes that cause deformity, instability, compression of nerve terminals and where the intervertebral disc (IVD) is always a main protagonist in this process of degeneration of the lumbar spine. This work aims to describe the results obtained from modeling a complete lumbar spine (L1-5) under different conditions of IVD of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) as a result of PD. For this, the adopted methodology is purely computational and by means of the finite element method (FEM) biomechanical changes and parameters such as: range of motion (ROM), L1-5 stiffness and ROM sensitivity were analyzed in each particular case according to the volume of PMMA injected.
