1 Abstract InfoTitle: Environmental Law and Agroecology against climate change in ArgentinaSeminar: Innovation for water and climate2 IntroductionIntro and Objectives:Agroecology is considered one of the technical strategists which is most prepared to fight againstclimate change. The motivation of the present field work relates to the experience of a group ofagroecological farmers who are currently producing in Luján District in the Province of BuenosAires, who exposed sustainable and traditional knowledge for fighting climate change andprovides secure products to the community. The aim of this paper is to describe a field workdeveloped between the academia and agroecological farmers, organize training workshops aboutEnvironmental Law and, advise them in the process of regulation of an Agroecological Ordinance. Keywords: Agroecology, Climate Change, Environment, Law.3 Abstract bodyMethodology:A qualitative research was adopted, according to the strategy of methodological triangulation:conducting interviews with experts and key informants and a legal analysis. All the rules are examined at the municipal, provincial and national levels applicable to thenational, provincial and municipal jurisdictions. Our interest in participating in these environmental issues relates to the possibility of having aninterdisciplinary group of professionals in the academia, where there are lawyers who arespecialized in Environmental Law and can collaborate with different social actors.Analysis and results:A group of farmers assisted to our university and informed us (lawyers), that they only hadfragmented expertise about Environmental Law. They expressed their interest in learning moreabout basic legal tools in order to protect their agroecological activities, ecosystems, and theirquality of life and we organized two workshops. Conclusions and recommendations:The transition from traditional agriculture to agroecology also relates to the levels of the world´sconsumption and of food wastes, and this is a debate´s issue which should be analyzing in ourcountry. The Environmental Law training and advise which was given by lawyers who currently work at theacademia is useful and should continue over time, especially in the agroecological area which isone of the best strategies to fight against climate change due to the use of popular and traditionalknowledges. Even more so, because this activity also relates to the protection of the right to publichealth.
