Resumen:
The objective of current research was to phenotype field-grown transgenic (tg) maize plants including the sark::ipt sequence, which confers delayed cell death under drought. Wetested the hypothesis(H0)of no difference between tg and non-tg (null) plants in nonstress conditions. Evaluated tg plants belonged to the SI-7 and SI-9 events, each backcrossed to B73 (IowaStiff Stalk) and LP2542 ((INTA) inbreds. All backcrosses were cropped in paired-rows under irrigation at IGEAF during 2017-2018. Each row included tg and null events. We evaluated (i) green leaf area per plant (GLAP), as the sum of the individual area of all green leaves at R2, (ii) leaf area senescencerate(SRLA) from R2 onwards, (iii) total aerial plant biomass (BTP) and plant grain yield (GYP) at physiological maturity.
