Resumen:
This article focuses on the pedagogical design of activities for an elective subject focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), aimed at fifth-year students of Mechanical Engineering. The course begins with a review module to reinforce concepts related to Continuum Mechanics and fundamentals of numerical methods. Subsequent classes take a workshop-type dynamic to understand the fundamentals of the Finite Volume Method applied on three disciplinary areas: aerodynamics, heat transfer, and multi-phase flows. The evaluation of each topic incluedes the resolution of benchmark cases using the OpenFOAM platform. The results of those simulations are presented in a report and exposed in front of their peers. The present work concludes with a overall review on the highlights of the first experience, offering suggestions in terms of a schedule and pedagogical materials to guarantee a more balanced workload in future iterations of the course.
