Migrations, coexistence and conflict in a heterogeneous peri-urban space (La Plata, Argentina)

My presentation had four parts. First, I briefly presented some socio-historical characteristics of the city of La Plata and the western sprawling area, where my research project is based. Secondly, it wss essential to share with the audience some data on the different stages, origins and characteristics of migratory flows to Argentina, as well as their relevance in the constitution of the national imaginary. In doing so, I tried to provide a general framework in which Bolivian immigrants are inserted. Thirdly, I carried out a brief sociological characterisation of Bolivian horticultural producers in the western area of La Plata, focusing on their living and working conditions. Finally, I addressed some social dynamics in this heterogeneous social space, trying to understand forms of coexistence and conflict , which may be more or less open or latent.
