Resumen:
The characterisation of scaling relations between global galaxy properties can potentially aid the reconstruction of the past evolutionary path of individual galaxies. In this work, we use the EAGLE (Evolution and Assembly of GaLaxies and their Environments) cosmological simulations to test the potential of effective yields, yeff , as indicators of the accumulated impact of feedback processes in such relations. Our results are able to distinguish differential behaviours in the distribution of values of yeff when varying, separately, the supernova and active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback efficiencies in the models. Furthermore, we study the temporal variation of yeff by constructing the merger trees of two typical massive galaxies. Simulations predict that AGN feedback processes and galaxy mergers strongly influence the yeff evolution.
