Resumen:
The magnetetoelectric CaBaCo4O7 compound offers an interesting scenario to study frustrated magnetism and multiferroics of spin origin. The Co2+ and Co3+ ions in tetrahedral coordination form a three-dimensional framework of interconnected triangular and kagome layers with strong antiferromagnetic interaction. The magnetic frustration imposed by such geometry is overcomed below 60 K leading to a ferrimagnetic order, which couples with a large increase in electric polarization of 17 mC/cm2 presumably by a magneto-striction mechanism, a subject which continues to be studied intensively. In this work, we present our results on the thermal evolution of the magnetic and nuclear structure of powder samples of Ca1-xSrxBaCo4O7 (x = 0, 0.02, 0.05, 0.07) to study the effect of chemical disorder by substitution at the Ca site.
